Des Plaines Camera Club
Spring Has Sprung
We've had a very unusual first quarter of the year, weather wise. As a result spring has sprung early and most plants are a month ahead of normal blooming time. We continue to have warm weather mixed with days of somewhat normal weather. This is a perfect time to get out and take pictures of these new blooms and brush off our macro equipment. With macro we don't need to get morning light or evening light. We can shoot any time of the day. Subject matter is all around us and is constantly changing from day to day. To focus on one plant as it first gets a bud and progresses to a flower can be a story in pictures. Don't get me wrong, morning and evening light can add some special dynamics to a close-up shot. Don't be afraid to get out in the early morning when there is a heavy dew, to get some special shots of water droplets glistening.
We only have one meeting left before we take our summer break. Where did the year go? We hope to make the most of the time we have and look forward to good participation from members for our last project. We will once again have our last meeting as a banquet meeting at the Silver Stallion, in Des Plaines. The program will by about your favorite photos taken in the last year. I'll be sending more information regarding this shortly.
In the mean time, just a reminder, that if you want to retain your skills in photography, you need to keep working at it.
Have fun with photography.

Final meeting 2011 - 2012
The year has gone by it seems in a flash. Here we are with the final meeting of the 2011 - 2012 meeting season for the Des Plaines Camera Club. Our final banquet meeting will be on May 21st at 6:00 PM at the Silver Stallion Restaurant. Please check the club website for the address and directions to the Silver Stallion. We will have about an hour of socializing and you can order dinner off the menu. Everyone pays their own bill. After dinner we will have a program featuring your pictures from the past year. Each person can send in ten (10) pictures that they like best that they took in the past year. They don't have to be award winners, just what you like. These pictures need to be gathered before the meeting, so you will need to send your file in to
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
. Please size your files to no larger than 1024 pixels wide and 768 pixels high. Name each file with your first and last name a dash then the title, if you wish to have one. Here is an example Jim Jones - My Best Picture. Please put "Banquet" in the subject line. Some of you may not be able to send all ten pictures in one email, so split them up into two or three if necessary. This is the first time we're doing this on this scale, so please don't wait until the last minute. Files should be sent no later than May 18th.
We have so many great photographers in the club, why not share with each other those pictures that we like best.
This event is not limited to just club members, feel free to bring your spouse or a friend as we have plenty of room.
